As one of Fashion's largest extravaganza's to be held annually, the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show started off in 1995 as a more humble showcase with a budget of USD120,000 (according the the Business of Fashion article; BOF) and is now a multi-million dollar production. This year they spent 13 million US dollars, which included six different themes, 38 models and 68 looks.
What the BOF points out as the Fashion Show's strength in communications and media use (to boost sales) is evident by each year's return and revenue. In 2010, Victoria's Secret recorded over $1.5 billion dollars in online and catalogue sales.
Their sales & marketing strategies have no doubt been strong and one of my favorite campaigns, which I have been following for years, is the Facebook Page for Victoria's Secret Pink.
Airing on November 29th on CBS -- the fashion show is produced for optimum sales, making sure that the lighting is perfect -- making the girls and the clothes look absolutely the best.
With performances by Maroon 5, Nicki Minaj, Kanye West, and Jay-Z, I just can't wait to see what the VS team has put together this year.
